Additional Analysis
Twitter:
NBC News uses Twitter to their advantage. They will post a tweet with a headline that captures your attention and a powerful image. This makes you want to click on the tweet and read the news story. The pictures appeal to pathos because they are, most of the time, impactful images that make you feel different emotions whether its sadness or udder happiness.
Snapchat:
NBC News also uses Snapchat to their advantage by having and anchor go into the field and posting videos from where the news is happening. Someone who adds them will see different anchors in different spots where news stories are taking place, which appeals to ethos. This appeals to ethos because you see, right where the journalist is taking this 10 second video, everything that is going on. Its especially useful for events where there will be large crowds to give more effect. From my time so far following NBC News on snapchat, I've noticed that the most interesting stories I've seen where from the Women's March back in February and the Inauguration in January. These had more impact because I got to see the news from someone filming from a phone like a normal citizen, not on a big high tech camera. Snapchat is a real advantage for news stations to have because it makes the viewer feel like they are right there at that event.
