NBC News has it's headquarters is in New York City, NY and a division of the network NBC. On February 21, 1940 NBC News released the first newscast in American television history. As the years passed NBC was getting more people watching it than CBS. NBC covers big news stories like elections, attacks, and economics. "Nightly News" rose in 1970 as a way to preserve the suddenly dropping ratings. This new show brought the ratings back up and helped NBC News to gain even more popularity. NBC News has covered many news stories in its time on the air. Stories like the assassination of President John F Kennedy, presidential elections, Inaugural ceremonies, 9/11, the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, the economic crisis in 2008, Sandy Hook, the Black Lives Matter movement, and countless others.
